The background score by Kalyani Malik is effective. Rakul has played a part that is far away from the clichéd heroine roles that she generally gets. Sai Chand is continuously getting worthy roles and he is shining in them. There is a marked difference in his acting style which is good. Nithin has put in sincere effort to shoulder the movie. The second half and the chess games fail to provide any thrills.Ĭoming to performances, Nithin and Sai Chand both deserve accolades. But as the story moves on further with predictable jail situations are thrown, the problems start to begin.

In ‘Redemption’, we hear philosophical lines. Thus it becomes a bland version of those films. Yeleti, however, has failed to add any wow factor to this mix. He placed the basic plot of ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ in the backdrop of a chess game, and dressed it with elements of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Prestige’.
